Go-to-market in Africa for B2B and SaaS companies
Expanding into Africa takes more than a campaign. Grovuu helps B2B and SaaS companies build a repeatable, market-specific go-to-market approach: the right accounts, country-specific messaging, partners, and a sales team ready to turn interest into revenue. We have done it across Kenya, Rwanda, Ghana and Uganda.
Why Africa needs a market-specific go-to-market
African markets differ in business environment, decision-making and how relationships are built. A single international marketing plan treats them as one market and usually underperforms. What works is a go-to-market designed country by country: clear buyer identification, local messaging, the right mix of outreach and partners, and qualification that sales can act on.
The challenge is rarely generating leads. It is building an approach that repeats across countries, so each new market gets easier rather than starting from scratch.
How Grovuu takes B2B companies into Africa
Readiness first
We check whether the business is ready for a new market, and whether sales can follow up and close, before budget is committed.
ICP and buyers for each market
We define the companies and decision-makers to target in each country, such as CEOs, strategy leaders or enterprise leadership.
Account research and country-specific messaging
We identify target accounts in each priority market and write outreach that speaks to local context, not a generic international message.
Direct outbound and partner development
We combine email and LinkedIn outreach, supported by SDR calls, with partner and channel prospecting, and test what works in each market.
Qualification and sales enablement
We set MQL and SQL criteria, build collateral and one-pagers, and prepare the team for demos, so opportunities convert.
Much of the account research and outreach can be run by Grovuu's Client Acquisition Agent, under the same plan.
Proof: Strategizer in Kenya, Rwanda, Ghana and Uganda
Strategizer, a B2B SaaS strategy-execution platform, wanted to expand across four African markets. Grovuu provided fractional marketing leadership and go-to-market execution support: ICP and personas for enterprise leaders, account research, country-specific email and LinkedIn messaging, sequences combining email, LinkedIn and SDR calls, qualification criteria, sales enablement and partner prospecting. Paid advertising was deprioritised in favour of targeted B2B engagement.
Strategizer now has a structured, market-specific go-to-market framework, and it is already producing early results: new opportunities, meetings and appointments with target accounts.

Go-to-market in Africa questions
Which African markets have you worked in?
Grovuu has run go-to-market work across Kenya, Rwanda, Ghana and Uganda for Strategizer, a B2B SaaS platform. Our founder, Vichalya Wijesuriya, has also built and scaled markets across Africa, South Asia and Asia Pacific.
Should we treat Africa as one market?
No. Each country has its own business environment, decision-making process and market relationships. A plan that works in one market rarely transfers unchanged, which is why we build country-specific prospecting, messaging and qualification.
Do paid ads work for B2B in Africa?
It depends on the market and the buyer, so we test rather than assume. For Strategizer, paid advertising was deprioritised in favour of targeted B2B engagement: direct outreach, account-based prospecting and partner development.
Do we need local partners?
Partners can open doors that cold outreach cannot. Partner and channel prospecting was part of Strategizer’s approach, alongside direct outbound, and we plan both together so they support each other.
Can you work in African time zones?
Yes. Grovuu is based in Sri Lanka, two and a half hours ahead of East Africa, so our working day overlaps with business hours across the continent.
